Mrs. Carmona

Leanne Carmona started her career in education teaching at the Camden County Alternative School in Kingsland, GA and later at Sand Creek High School in Colorado Springs, CO. After spending time in public education she developed a passion for education advocacy. From 2017 to 2022 she worked in Anne Arundel County Public Schools helping parents navigate the special education process. She has been a Maven parent since 2017 and began teaching at Maven in 2021. Mrs. Carmona strongly believes that each student is unique and should have educational opportunities that build upon their strengths and provide skill development and encouragement in areas of need.

Mrs. Schroeder
English Teacher/Assistant Administrator
Bachelor of Arts in English, Glenville State University
Gina Schroeder worked as an editor for an online newspaper in California before moving to Maryland to start a family. A proponent of Classical education, she homeschooled her children for 10 years before enrolling them at Maven in 2019. She began teaching at the Maven Academy in 2021. In addition to teaching English, Gina also works as a freelance editor and loves to read and cook in her spare time.

History/English Teacher

Elana Thom started with The Maven Academy as a parent in 2015 and joined our faculty as the history teacher for 2019-2020 and 2021-present. She has over 20 years of experience teaching middle and high school students in both public and private school settings. Ms. Thom looks at education as a three-legged stool, the legs representing the student, the parent(s), and the teacher. We each have a role to uphold to provide balance so that our students will be successful..
